Are College Students Still The Target Of Credit Card Issuers?

Help educate a college student about the use of credit cards. Recent legislative attempts to prevent banks from using inappropriate sales tactics to lure students to apply for credit may not be working as well as intended. Additionally, many college students continue to exhibit an inadequate understanding of the potential pitfalls of personal debt.

A full 29% of students under 21 who obtained a credit card since starting school this academic year used student loan proceeds as part of the income they reported to card issuers in their credit card applications.
